Liebster Award!

I was recently nominated by Ali from TheQuickFoodGuide for the Liebster Award. If you are interested in affordable, tasty and (as the name would suggest!) quick recipes, I highly recommend you check her blog out!

"The Liebster Award is given to up-and-coming bloggers who have 200 followers or less. This Liebster award is passed between bloggers as a way of connecting and expanding the blogging community.
When you receive the award, you must answer 11 questions asked by your nominee.  In turn you must then nominate your choice of blogs, ask them 11 questions and notify them that you are giving them the award!"

Here are my 11 questions:

1) Why did you start your blog?
I’ve always had a keen interest in writing, but studying science at university has meant the opportunity hasn’t presented itself hugely in my course apart from an essay here or there. I decided to start my blog as an online platform where I could discuss recent innovations in neuroscience, whilst practicing (and hopefully improving!) my writing ability.

2) What is your favourite food or meal?
My mum is half Italian, so when I’m home from uni I get to eat a lot of traditional Italian meals. Probably my favourite meal would be cannelloni - a kind of pasta bake with tomato sauce, spinach, ricotta and mozzarella, so so great!

3) Do you have a sweet tooth and if so, what for?
Definitely, but for chocolate more than anything else.

4) What are your three kitchen essentials?
Coffee, pasta and jar of sauce. That way you can cover all bases and make a drink and a meal!

5) What gets you out of bed in the morning (apart from your alarm!)?
When I first starting writing for my blog, I didn’t quite realize how enjoyable I would find it to have an outlet where I could write about any topic I wanted. I’ve really liked being able to have control of the entire process of blogging – choosing a topic, writing a post, editing and eventually publishing it online. It’s so satisfying posting up an article and receiving good feedback from those that have read your work! I would say my blog definitely spurs me to get out of bed in the morning.

6) If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
Probably Australia as I’ve never been before. My only issue would be that the flight is 24 hours long and I’m not great with flying!

7) What is your current favourite TV show?
Sopranos. Can’t recommend this show enough! I only started watching it online a month or so ago but the script is so well written and the actors are so believable, I’m completely hooked.

8) What is your favourite time of year?
Spring. It also happens to be when my birthday is, but it’s the time of the year when the weather actually starts to get nicer, and as plants etc start flowering everywhere starts to look a bit more attractive I think! I’m also always always cold so a bit of warm weather makes such a difference for me!

9) What is your favourite blog to follow?
Probably “Mind Hacks”. It posts really regularly, and the topics that are covered really interest me. I like the fact the blog acts as a bridge between neuroscience and psychology.

10) What post are you most proud of?
Although it’s definitely not my most well written, I am quite proud of my post about free will. Ever since reading David Eagleman’s book Incognito about a month ago I’ve been itching to write about the topic! I was truly inspired by the study by Benjamin Libet that he discussed, and reading it in his book really was one of those “mind blown” moments for me. I tried really hard to convey this in my post about it, and just hope this came across!

11) Where do you see your blog in the next year?
I hope that my writing ability will have improved, and that by continually posting once a week I will have gained more knowledge of up-and-coming research in the field of neuroscience. Of course, I wouldn’t mind gaining a few more followers either!

I would like to nominate:

My questions for you are:

1) When and why did you start your blog?
2) Which blog post are you most proud of?
3) What do you do in your spare time (when you’re not blogging!)?
4) Do you collect anything?
5) Who inspires you?
6) What is your favourite city that you have lived in/visited/would like to visit?
7) What do you feel has been your biggest achievement in life so far?
8) If you could speak to your past self, what would you say?
9) If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be?
10) What is your favourite blog to follow?
11) Where do you see your blog in the next year?

Thanks again for the nomination :)

Enjoy!
